Group Poetry. You need a group of people. Someone writes a line of poetry in a notebook and then passes it to the next person who writes a line and so on and so forth until everyone has written one. It’s a beautiful collaborative experience that brings people together and creates a group chemistry.

Evan specifically loves Tamara Levitt’s collaborative gratitude lists that he does with a partner where he dives deep into the meaning and perspective behind each moment of daily gratitude.

Her typewriter. When she’s at her typewriter, she never knows what she’s going to write. She loves to free write and let her thoughts go free to give herself a space where she doesn’t judge or edit her thoughts.

Harvey

Excellence in art. Harvey tries to always surround himself with this, be it in music, paintings, movies, or especially books. Some of his favorites include "On the Shoulders of Giants" by Kareem Abdul Jabbar and  "Q" by Quincy Jones. 

Evan

The Netflix show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. Evan tried applying the concept of ridding yourself of anything that does not spark joy not only in his home but across his entire life, and is loving having the space to truly focus on the things that do bring him joy.

The book "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield. This book was Sarah's bible for a long time and provided motivation when she most needed it. She sometimes flips the book open to a random page and starts reading, and it's always powerful and resonating.

A double golden nugget! The first one is sun and air - that’s free! Go outside--you don’t have to be Beyoncé to get some and air. The second is an app called Wordscapes. It gives you a series of letters and you make as many words as you can with them. It helps wake up his mind and gets his creative thinking going. It’s a mind stimulant that gives him access to more words for his writing.

There’s a lot energy and power in this playboy lighter that he used in shows in the 80s. It gives her confidence and makes her feel iconic. Sarah recommends a personal item or charm that gives you inspirational energy. 

MNDR

A song she produced from the band Makeout, “You Can’t Be Friends With Everyone” - For Amanda, it’s a metaphor and way of life for everything she does. It reminds her to spend her time and energy playing to her strengths. Whenever she feels insecure, she just thinks of that song and it makes her laugh.

“Picture all of the people you love laughing before you go to bed” - Evan was recently on a songwriting trip in London and learned about this valuable golden nugget from a producer during a session. Evan does this any night he feels work anxiety in order to release that stressful energy before bedtime. It allows him to get a better night sleep and wake up with less anxiety.

A book called “Egypt: Then and Now” A book of pictures that shows how sites used to look way back in history, and then you flip the page and it shows how it looks today. She loves how much information it gives and it shows multiple places she was able to visit on her recent trip. Her golden nugget is this book but also having little trinkets or something to remember places you’ve been.

Evan 

Jeremy Heimans and his book called New Power. Evan listened to him speak recently and he felt so inspired by his old power versus new power and old values versus new values, and how we can take those principles and bring them into creativity. Old power is based in currency and new power is based in current. You can’t accumulate current, but it’s what you can do with it, how you can bring other people into it.

EJ Hill

 

When he’s really looking to ground himself again, start a new project or just reaffirm, it’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The album hits all of the right notes. It feels like a gospel text to him. If he never had to listen to anything else other than that, he’d be fine.
