Episode 1: The Sun

John Feldmann

On our first episode, we get Right To The Source of John Feldmann’s long-term relationship with music and spirituality, the unique method to his creative madness, and how he embraced his rebellious nature right from the start; creating a cultural movement with his band, Goldfinger, before producing hit records for Blink-182, Good Charlotte, The Used, and 5SOS. Come along with us on our first adventure together, and let’s find out why Feldy’s dedication to connecting to something greater than himself has him screaming “I Love My Life!” every morning, plus introductions to our recurring segments A Rose & A Thorn, The Daily, and Golden Nuggets.

THE DAILY

Gratitude

John’s daily routine is centered around making a gratitude a list with at least ten things he’s grateful for. That’s when his head is the loudest. He goes on the elliptical machine for 22 minutes because 20 minutes is the magic cardio number to conquer anxiety. If he doesn’t go on the elliptical machine it’s because he is boxing with a trainer. Then he goes for a hike with his dogs and makes his gratitude list on the hike. He screams “I Love My Life!” at the top of his lungs and when he gets back to the house he meditates for 20 minutes with a mantra. Then he meditates again around 4pm.

Sarah

Rose

Her two dogs, Gypsy and Magik. They are bundles of joy and happiness. The unconditional love that comes from animals saves her life.

Thorn

Self-criticism and self-doubt. She wants to live the best life she can, but with social media and constant comparisons, it can be hard to stay positive.

Evan

Rose

His roses! Overnight his roses bloomed everywhere. These are lives that he's contributing to, and they're paying him back with such beauty.

Thorn

Squirrels. They eat all of his fruit before he can pick it off the trees. He's working on accepting that there's nothing he can do about the squirrels and turning his frustration into gratitude.

John

Rose

That he does what he loves for a living being able to write music. Unless he's creating something, he gets anxious and stuck in his head and he doesn't feel like he's really living life.

Thorn

Comparison and negativity. Compare and despair. It's not like there's a competition.

Sarah

A Picture Of Her Great-Grandmother Tessie. Every single morning and night Sarah talks to her angels and spirit guides. Prayer for her gets her out of her head, makes her feel connected, and gives her perspective. When she prays she talks to Tessie.

Evan

Oprah and Deepak’s 21-Day Meditation. When Evan isn’t doing John Paul Crimi’s Breathwork Meditation, as recommended by John as well, he does this 20-minute guided meditation. The 21-Day Meditation covers various experiences such as the Energy Of Attraction, Being In The Moment, and Expanding Your Happiness, among others. You can find out more about the meditation and sign up here

John

John recommends two books: “10% Happier” (available here) which he thinks is the best book ever written on meditation, and “Three Magic Words” (available here) which is about transcending the negativity of life from within. He also loves David Elliot’s and John Paul Crimi’s guided Breathwork Meditations. You can find David Elliot's here and Paul Crimi's here
